Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit our websites, create an account, buy or sell on MineralCache, or engage with us in sales, marketing, or events. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Information we collect

• Information you provide: name, username, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and any other information you submit (for example, messages or support requests).
• Payment data: payment method details are collected and processed by our payment processors. We do not store full card numbers. See Stripe and PayPal.
• Automatically collected: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, language, referring URLs, pages viewed, links clicked, searches, date or time of visits, and error data.
• Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for core functionality, analytics, and, where enabled, marketing. See our Cookie Policy.
• Approximate location: derived from IP or device settings if permitted by you.
• Google services: where we use Google APIs, we comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use.
• Analytics: we may use Google Analytics to understand usage. Opt-out: Browser add-on.

GeoCache information

If you use MineralCache GeoCache features, we may collect and store GeoCache-related information such as cache listings, photos, specimen details, approximate public location details, exact coordinates visible only to authorized roles, favorites, claim-code verification attempts, found-status activity, and related account actions needed to operate, secure, and moderate the GeoCache experience.

How we use information

• Provide, operate, and improve the Services and marketplace features.
• Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, process transactions, and fulfill orders.
• Respond to inquiries and provide support, and send service and policy notices.
• Personalize content and recommendations, and measure and improve performance.
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and policies.
• With your consent, send marketing communications you can opt out of at any time.

When we share information

• Service providers that help us operate the Services (for example, payments, hosting, analytics, and security) under contracts that limit their use to our instructions or permitted business purposes.
• Marketplace activity where sharing is necessary to complete a transaction (for example, a seller receives your shipping name and address to fulfill an order).
• Legal and safety to comply with law, protect rights, investigate fraud or abuse, or respond to lawful requests.
• Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

International users and cross-border processing

MineralCache is based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be collected, stored, accessed, and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws in your jurisdiction.

When we transfer personal information across borders, we use reasonable contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the transfer.

Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with legal and accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify information.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data. No system is 100% secure; transmission of information is at your own risk. In the event of a data breach, we will provide notification to affected users in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws.

Children

MineralCache is for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us, and we will delete it.

Do-Not-Track and global controls

Industry standards for browser Do-Not-Track (DNT) signals are not uniform, so we do not respond to DNT at this time. Where required by law, we honor applicable global opt-out signals such as GPC.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on the Services and, where required, we will notify you. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the updated Policy.
